It’s fall! Time to clean the garden beds surrounding the school and finally plant new trees and shrubs in the Phase II garden area. This is a significant amount of work and we need your help! The first work session will be held this coming Saturday, Sept 29, and will focus primarily on preparing the Phase II garden bed for fall planting. The second work party will be held the following Saturday, Oct 6, and will be a joint activity of the Gardening Committee and the Playground Improvement Project. Details of each work party are given below. Come and go as your schedule requires, and by all means bring the kids (and their bikes/scooters)! The more people we have, the faster the cleaning/planting will certainly go. Just think how great everything will look when we’re finished! So bring your gardening tools, gloves, & wheelbarrows, and join us as we work together to beautify the gardens surrounding our school. Session I: Preparation of the Phase II Garden Bed and Planters
Date: Saturday, September 29, from 9:30 am – until finished
Objective: Cleaning of Phase II garden area. Remove wood chips, turn soil over and clean of weeds and debris then mix with compost.
Session II: Wedgwood Gardening Extravaganza
Date: Saturday, October 6, from 9:30am – until finished
Objective: Clean and plant bulbs/plants in existing garden beds; plant 16 trees; 100 shrubs; 40 sword ferns; bulbs and a cover crop in the new Phase II garden.
The PTA will be providing refreshments at both work parties!
