In an effort to cut down on the chaos from last year, this year’s Geography Bee on April 10th, will be much different from the past two years.
In order to qualify to compete in the bee, students will take a voluntary written test in class the week of March 17th. The top 5 scorers in each class who wish to compete will form a team. This way we will be able to keep the teams to a manageable number and the Bee can run smoothly.
All competing teams will be questioned on the stage so you can watch everyone compete. Charles Dodd, from Edmonds Community College, will moderate the bee and ask questions of each team one at a time. Teams will have a certain amount of time in which to consult each other and provide an answer. If a team answers incorrectly, they will leave the stage and is then out of the bee. Last team standing will have conquered this bee! As in the past, grades 1 through 3, and grades 4 and 5 will compete against each other.
Good luck and have fun! If you have questions, please contact Brenda Waldrop at waldrop_watrous at msn dot com or 365-8881.
